Washington, D.C.: “There have been over 300 “serious” reports of assassination plots against the president since the first of the year. Most are the result of domestic right wing types who cannot adjust to the fact that a black man was elected president by popular vote (rather than be manipulated into office in spite of the popular vote like George W. Bush). The Secret Service, which is undermanned and way overworked, is having a terrible time keeping up with the threats. We have a similar situation with the FBI which is also way undermanned and loaded with mountains of work. What is really needed is a recruitment drive for both branches, significant pay increases and aggressive employment programs. The far right Republicans are directly responsible for most of these threats, not in and of themselves but by their incitement to rebellion by those most likely to take violent action.”
