Washington, D.C.: The shift in power in the Middle East from a triangular US-Israel-Saudi Arabia one to a Russian-Syrian-Iranian one is causing frenzy both in Israel and the United States. Iran is more than capable of blocking the Gulf and seriously impacting world oil needs, and also, with Russian assistance, has built up a significant anti-aircraft defense system. The US military believes an attack on Iran in force could bring strong and very destructive retaliation from that country but these beliefs do not matter to Israelis who are still pressing for an American attack on Iran. If they get through to Trump and he is convinced a war is necessary, it will be interesting to see the results. If, as it is believed, Iran has nuclear weapons and a delivery system, the allegedly 'secret' bunkers installed at Charlotttesville, Virginia will have many distinguished tenants...
